Souhile Assaf, PhD, President CEO

Founder of Medtrode, Neurophysiologist by training, Dr. Assaf has entrepreneurial experience in the medical device market, particularly in successfully leading companies from inception to income generation. Prior to Medtrode he served as CEO of a medical imaging technology company spun-off from a Canadian research institute.

Glen Smeltzer, P. Eng., MBA, CFO/COO

Seasoned business professional with 18 years of experience working with emerging technology companies, both as a start-up CEO and in early-stage venture capital. Started and led to profitability and eventual acquisition a successful neurodiagnostic equipment manufacturing company. Joined Medtrode in May 2005 following the acquisition of a venture capital fund where Mr. Smeltzer was a partner, managing venture investments in a variety of emerging Canadian technology companies.

Mandar Jog, MD, FRCPC

Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board. Co-inventor of Medtrode’s core multichannel microelectrode technology. World-renowned neurologist and researcher, head of the movement disorders program at the London Health Sciences Centre. Extensively publishes in major industry journals, consultant to pharmaceutical industry, speaker at many prominent conferences on neurology.

Natalya Ioudina, MA, MBA, Business Development

Business development and operations professional with over 10 years of experience working for start-up companies in the international business, healthcare and pharmaceutical industries. Natalya joined Medtrode after completing her MBA degree at the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario and working as a business analyst at the Stiller Centre for Biotechnology Commercialization in London, Ontario, where she received an extensive exposure to the technology transfer activities at Canadian research institutions.

Jessie Shen, B.A.Sc. (Eng.). (Ph.D candidate)

An exceptional graduate from the University of Waterloo Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences Program, Jessie is responsible for our engineering department and product development. Her research interest included designing a sleep detection algorithm and biomedical devices.
